Recently purchased a BX23. First night I had it I parked it in a small garage I have in my backyard.Because of other items in the garage the back of the hoe in the stowed position was only a couple inches from the roll up door.
The next morning I could not open the door, the boom on the hoe had creeped down about 8 inches. Is this normal?
Dealer says it is. Needless to say I put the bar lock in the next night. My first Kubota and really like it.

I think most hydraulics leak down a little bit - hence the designed in lock pins, and the reason people store loaders lowered, booms locked, etc. Every backhoe I've seen (CUT or otherwise) has locking pins or some other mechanism for the boom.
My new backhoe stabilizers leak down about 3/8" per week when it is parked for long, but never more than about an inch total. Now I just make sure I have a backhoe job every couple of days, :) ....

Treb55, I think that's pretty normal. If I forget the locking pin on my Deere #48 it will settle overnight. ....

Yes, mine settles around that rate as well. If trailering a tractor with a hoe mounted, it's sort of a toss-up whether to use the locking plate or to set the bucket down on the bed to reduce shock loads on the hoe and tractor--probably on the bed is better. A similar issue is locked or unlocked when getting it off a trailer. It's easy enough to damage a hoe by running the bucket into the ground when backing down trailer ramps. Locked probably is better but making sure it's not going to happen is best.
I did something similar once. I left the loader up over the top of a snow blower. In a few days it hooked itself over the top of the blower. No problem since the tractor started. If it hadn't I would have had to jack up the bucket to get the tractor out of the shed. Setting everything down always is good even it you're trying to save space like I was. It's good to keep in mind that kids like to play on tractors. Something that's up can crash down if a lever is pulled. We solved a 3ph problem here once. A kid had turned off the flow control valve. ....

It really isn't a major concern until it starts dropping while you are operating it, especially when you are using another spool on the same stick, or if you see fluid leaking. Then you need to investigate further, and quickly, because that could become a major safety issue. I would trust your dealer, he has good information, as well as those who have posted before me. ....

Lot's of good info here about the drop on the hydraulics. It is correct that they will drop down after time on anything, loader, backhoe, anytype of system unless equipped with check valves which would be cost prohibitive and they would also hinder performance. ....

When trailering I don't use the lock up pin. Just seems like it is easier on everything if you sit the bucket on the trailer 2 or 3 ft. behind the tractor. Frank. ....

That could be hard on your deck depending on your air pressure of the tires on the tractor. Many people do use your system and it does decrease the load on what you are securing the tractor with and lowers the center of gravity of the load. ....

Here we go again with a subject near and dear to my heart, the DOT. On one stop I had the transport lock out of the boom so I could lower the bucket on the "A" frame of the tongue. The DOT guy told me it was O.K. so long as the swing lock was in place, which of course it wasn't, sooooo...you get the idea. ....
